I. Learning Outcomes/Objective- At the end of this activity, the students will be able to define and identify the prepositions and propositional phrases in a sentence.
II. Activity -
- Remind students where we left off last week.
- Introduce the term preposition and give students examples of prepositions that they can relate in their every day life while passing out a worksheet of lists of prepositions that they can refer to.
- Start lesson with power point. This will define prepositional phrases and what it is used for. It gives examples of what they are and visuals for students to see.
- There is a listen and identify activity in the PowerPoint. Each student will have a turn to listen to the sentence, and then identify and tell the class what the prepositional phrase is.
Reflection
The use of technology supported my teaching strategies in this activity by allowing me not to just talk to my students, but having them look and follow along at a visual while I explain the definition of a preposition. Having the Smart board made it easier and allowed me to prepare in a more timely manner such as pulling up the worksheet right there instead of having to write sentences out and having the students wait on me as I did it.
This technology is effective in enhancing students' understanding and learning from my activity because it keeps them intrigued as to what will we do next. There are so many different activities teachers can use within the smart board that students now have a more fun variety of activities to do and learn at the same time.
